Concepts and operation of tracking groups
Understand what tracking groups are, what they are for, and how they differ from individual P.P.C.T. configuration.
- What are Tracking Groups for?
The tracking groups bring together multiple trackings into a single structure that can be collectively applied to products, offers, or checkouts.
With a group, you reduce the need to link each tracking individually and ensure consistency in the application and triggering of these codes.
Groups are used to:
-
centralize the management of multiple trackings;
-
apply standardized sets of trackings without repeating configuration;
-
facilitate campaign maintenance and scalability;
-
reduce operational errors associated with manual configuration of several distinct trackings.
How to create a tracking group in Guru?
To create a tracking group, access the Guru admin and, in the side menu, click on P.P.C.T. Then, select Group and click on Add group.
You must inform the desired name for the group and add the trackings you wish to include in the group. To conclude, click on Save and the group will be available for linking.
After adding a tracking group, if you wish to make changes, you can update*, duplicate or remove the group*.
(*) IT will not be possible to change or delete a tracking group after it has received its first click.
- Is it possible to create a tracking group without any tracking created?
Yes, it is possible to create a tracking group even if you haven't created any P.P.C.T.yet.
The group functions as an independent organizational structure, which can be created in advance to plan the organization of campaigns. You can create capture trackings, checkout, leads and sales, and add them to the group later, as they are configured.
This feature is useful when you have already defined the campaign structure and want to maintain standardization even before starting to generate tracking links.
- What is the difference between configuring trackings individually and using a tracking group?
The main difference lies in the way your P.P.C.T.s are organized, applied, and analyzed within your campaigns.
When configuring trackings individually, whether it's an P.P.C.T. for Sales, Leads, Checkout or Captures, you create specific links to track isolated actions and analyze the funnel and performance of each link separately or grouped by origin.
On the other hand, the tracking group is a tool to gather, link, and organize different P.P.C.T.s that share the same context, such as a specific campaign, a launch, or a product, for example.
By adopting a tracking group, you have:
- Organização multicanal: um mesmo grupo pode agregar simultaneamente P.P.C.T.s de Vendas, Leads, Checkout ou Capturas - isso permite que todas as engrenagens de uma mesma estratégia fiquem organizadas juntas;
- Análise consolidada: o uso do grupo possibilita uma visão consolidada de estruturas específicas, facilitando a aplicação de filtros por grupo diretamente nos dashboards e relatórios - com isso, você pode avaliar o desempenho da campanha como um todo, otimizando o processo de análise de dados;
Access and see how to add a tracking group.
- Can I combine Sales, Leads, Checkout, and Capture P.P.C.T.s in the same group?
Yes, you can combine sales, leads, checkout and capture r.P.P.C.s in the same tracking group, linking trackings related to the same context, such as a specific campaign, launch, or product funnel.
To do this, you must create the desired trackings and link them to the corresponding group.
By grouping different types of tracking in a single group, you:
-
centralize the entire funnel structure in the same organization;
-
facilitate the application of group filters in the dashboards;
-
obtain a consolidated view of the campaign;
-
analyze the performance from lead capture to final conversion.
This organization allows you to cross-reference data from different stages of the journey within the same analytical context, reducing the need for manual segmentation.
- Is there any hierarchy between groups and individual trackings?
Yes, there is a structural hierarchy of organization. The tracking group acts as a superior grouping structure, while individual P.P.C.T.s are the operational elements linked to that group.
This hierarchy works as follows:
|
Element |
Role in the structure |
Function |
|---|---|---|
|
Tracking group - gathers trackings related to the same strategic context and centralizes organization, custom domain (when configured), and consolidated analysis |
Superior level (grouping) |
Organize, consolidate, and allow joint analysis of trackings |
|
Individual P.P.C.T. (Sales, Leads, Checkout or Captures) - are the links effectively used in traffic sources; during the creation or editing of an P.P.C.T., it is possible to link it to an existing group through the “Group” field |
Operational level (specific link) |
WHAT does this hierarchy impact in practice?
The relationship established in tracking groups is organizational and analytical, and does not alter the technical functioning of P.P.C.T.s.
By linking trackings to a group, you maintain individual monitoring of each link and, at the same time, gain a consolidated view of all associated trackings. This facilitates the strategic analysis of the campaign as a whole and centralizes structures that share the same context.
The tracking group organizes and consolidates information, but does not modify attribution rules, does not change link behavior, and does not replace individual configurations.
Managing tracking groups
Clear your doubts about how to create, edit, organize, and maintain your tracking groups in Guru, see what changes are allowed and what rules must be observed when deleting or modifying an already created structure.
- Where can I link a tracking group?
The tracking group can be linked directly to the desired trackings, in Sales, Leads, Checkout or Captures.
To do this, in the Guru admin, access the side menu and, under P.P.C.T., access Sales, Leads, Checkout or Captures. You can link the group when adding a Sales P.P.C.T., Leads, Checkout or Captures, or when updating a Sales P.P.C.T., Leads, Checkout or Captures.
When selecting a group, all P.P.C.T.s associated with it are considered in that application, without the need for individual linking.
This allows you to apply multiple trackings and maintain the standardization of campaign structure, in addition to simplifying future maintenance.
- How to add trackings to an existing group?
For you to add tracking to an existing group, you will first need to have a tracking group created. To do this, access the Guru admin and, in the side menu, click on P.P.C.T., and then Group, then click on Add.
If you already have the tracking group created, access the Guru admin and, in the side menu under P.P.C.T., click on Groups, then select from the list of Tracking Groups the group to which you want to add the tracking. Click on one of the tabs leads, captures, sales or checkout and click on Add the tracking; then, click on the existing option.
When choosing the Existingoption, indicate which P.P.C.T. should be linked to the selected tracking group and configure each tracking group by linking it to the corresponding P.P.C.T.
It is also possible to link an P.P.C.T. to a tracking group when adding or updating a leads, captures, sales or checkout P.P.C.T..
If you don't have any tracking groups created yet, access and see how to add an P.P.C.T. group in the Guru admin.
- Can I edit the group name without affecting the data?
Yes. It is possible to edit the name of the tracking group without changing other data, however, it will only be possible to update the data if the linked trackings have not yet received their first click.
To do this, in the Guru admin, access the side menu, click on P.P.C.T. and, then, Groups. In the list of your tracking groups, select the group you intend to update.
If the trackings linked to this group are already running campaigns and have received their first click, the system will block editing and it will not be possible to change or delete the tracking group from that moment on. This occurs to protect the integrity of the data history and already collected statistics.
If you wish to use the same settings of a group for a new grouping, you can duplicate a tracking group.
- Why duplicate a tracking group?
By duplicating a tracking group, you save time in structuring your campaigns. Instead of configuring a new group from scratch, you can copy a similar existing group to use the same main settings, such as the associated product, the custom domain, and the user responsible for managing the group.
By using this feature, the platform generates an exact copy of the original tracking definitions, requiring only that you provide a new name to identify the newly created group.
To duplicate a tracking group, access the Guru admin and, in the side menu, click on P.P.C.T. Then, select Groups. In the list, hover over the desired tracking group and click on Duplicate.
If you wish to make changes, it is possible to update* or remove the group*.
(*) IT will not be possible to change or delete a tracking group after it has received its first click.
- Can I remove a tracking group?
Yes, it is possible to remove a tracking group, provided it has not received its first click.
To remove a tracking group, access the Guru admin and, in the side menu, click on P.P.C.T. Then, select Groups. In the listing, select the group you want to delete and, in Detail, click on Remove.
When deleting a tracking group, it ceases to be available for linking.
As an alternative to deletion, it is possible to edit the group name and the trackings included in it. Changes take effect immediately after saving confirmation.
- What data is displayed in the results of the Tracking Groups Sales Dashboard?
The Tracking Groups Sales Dashboard consolidates, in a single view, the main financial performance indicators of the P.P.C.T.s linked to the group, facilitating strategic analysis and decision-making.
The data displayed are:
|
Dashboard Section |
WHAT is displayed |
|---|---|
|
General Sales metrics |
Total revenue, quantity of valid sales, number of products sold, new customers in the period, and refund values |
|
Sales evolution over time, with indicators such as quantity of products sold, net value, average ticket, and average profit in the selected period |
|
|
Percentage and volume of sales approved by payment method, allowing comparison of performance between card, bank slip, and other available forms |
|
|
Ranking of products with the highest sales volume in the group, including quantity sold, total value, commissions paid to affiliates, net value, and percentage participation |
The indicators displayed in the Tracking Groups Sales Dashboard allow evaluating the group's consolidated performance, identifying trends, and adjusting strategies based on real sales data.

it is possible to filter the data of the Tracking Groups Sales Dashboard.
- Is it possible to filter the sales list of Tracking Groups?
Yes, you can apply filters to the sales list to locate specific sales you want to view.
To do this, in the Guru admin, access the side menu, click on P.P.C.T. and then Groups. In P.P.C.T. Groups, access the sales list.tab.
it is possible to filter the results by period, payment data (currency and payment methods); sales status; buyer data (name, email, and document); affiliate data; linked products.
- How to export the sales list of Tracking Groups?
To export the sales list of tracking groups, you must access the Guru admin and, in the side menu, click on P.P.C.T. and then Groups. Next, the list of tracking groupswill be displayed, select the desired tracking group and access the sales list.tab.
In the upper right corner of the screen, click on XLS to start the export. After a few minutes, you will receive a notification within the admin itself with the link to download the file.
If desired, before exporting, it is possible to use filters in the sales list of tracking groups to display only the desired data.
Technical behavior in tracking groups
Clarify your doubts about the behavior of tracking groups after linking and how changes impact their structure.
- How does the domain of P.P.C.T.s work within a tracking group?
The domain that links assume becomes the domain configured in the tracking group, meaning this domain prevails over any individual P.P.C.T. configuration.
Inheritance happens automatically when the P.P.C.T. is created within the group or inserted into it later. From this association, newly generated links start using the domain defined in the group.
Links previously disclosed with another domain are not retroactively changed. The inclusion of the P.P.C.T. in a group does not modify URLs that are already in circulation. For the new domain to be applied in practice, it is necessary to copy the new link generated by the group and manually update it in the respective traffic sources.
- What happens if I edit a group that is already linked?
You can update the information of a tracking group if the linked trackings have not received any clicks. In this case, you can edit it normally to adjust the name, associated product, custom domain, and responsible user.
If the trackings linked to this group are already running campaigns and have received their first click, the system will block editing, and it will not be allowed to change or delete the tracking group from that moment on. This occurs to protect the integrity of the data history and already collected statistics.
If you add(1) or remove(2) trackings from an already linked group, the change is automatically reflected in all products, offers, or checkouts where the group is applied; it is not necessary to re-link. This ensures agility in campaign maintenance.
(1) To add trackings to a group, access P.P.C.T. Captures, Checkout, Leads or Sales.
(2) To remove trackings from a group, access P.P.C.T. Captures, Checkout, Leads or Sales.
- Can I link the same P.P.C.T. to more than one group?
No. Each P.P.C.T. can only be associated with one tracking group at a time.
This rule exists to maintain structural organization and prevent data analysis duplication. Since the group functions as an analytical context for campaigns, allowing the same tracking to belong to multiple groups could generate inconsistencies in dashboards and reports.
If you need to use the same tracking in different contexts, the alternative is to create a new P.P.C.T. for each group or campaign.
- Is there a limit to the number of trackings within a group?
There is no strict limit to the number of trackings that can be associated with a tracking group in Guru.
It is recommended to maintain a logical organization, grouping trackings that truly belong to the same campaign, product, or funnel structure. This facilitates data analysis and avoids excessively complex groups.
You can create capture trackings, checkout, leads and sales, and add them to the group as you configure them.
Analysis by tracking group
See how to view and edit data by tracking groups. Understand how data consolidation works and what impacts structural changes can have on metric visualization.
- How to view data by group?
To view the data of a specific tracking group, you must access the Guru admin and, in the side menu, click on P.P.C.T. Then, select Groups. In the list, click on the desired group and consult the tracking group information.
To locate a specific tracking group, you can apply filters to restrict the search to the characteristics of the desired group.
- Can I filter reports by group?
Yes. It is possible to use filters to locate specific groups within the list of P.P.C.T. groups, searching by name, linked product, or group owner.
To do this, in the side menu of the Guru admin, access P.P.C.T. and click on Groups. In the upper right corner of the page, click on Filters and fill in one or more options. After defining the desired criteria, simply click on Filter for the list to be updated with the corresponding results.
This feature facilitates the organization and location of groups within your tracking structure.
- Can I move an P.P.C.T. to another tracking group?
it is possible to move an P.P.C.T. to another group, depending on the tracking stage.
Group change is only allowed as long as the P.P.C.T. has not yet received clicks. During this initial campaign setup phase, it is possible to edit the tracking and change the group to which it is linked.
After the P.P.C.T. receives its first click, some configuration fields become locked, including the associated group. This restriction exists to preserve the integrity of the data history and prevent structural changes in trackings that already have traffic and recorded statistics.
If it is necessary to reorganize the structure after the campaign starts, you can create a new P.P.C.T. already linked to the correct group and use the new link in the traffic sources.
A/B Tests and tracking groups
Clarify your doubts about how to associate, create, and manage neural A/B tests within tracking groups, understanding how they integrate into the campaign structure and results monitoring.
- What types of A/B Tests can be associated with a tracking group?
You can associate three types of Neural A/B Tests with a tracking group:
-
The Leads A/B Test is indicated for capture pages - it allows comparing variations focused on lead generation, identifying which version converts more visitors into leads;
-
the Sales A/B Test is aimed at offer pages - it allows analyzing which variation generates a higher sales volume, better conversion rate, or higher revenue; and
-
the Checkouts A/B Test is used to test different versions of the payment process, evaluating which structure performs best in completing the purchase.
In all cases, it is possible to create a new A/B Test directly within the group or associate a test that has already been created previously. This offers flexibility to organize and analyze your experiments within the same tracking structure.
it is possible to add or associate A/B tests for leads, sales or checkouts to your tracking group.
- How to add a new A/B Test to a tracking group?
You can add a Neural A/B Test for Leads, Sales or Checkout directly within the tracking group.
To do this, in the Guru admin, access P.P.C.T. in the side menu and click on Groups. Then, select the desired group. Within the group, you will find the tabs corresponding to Leads A/B Test, Sales A/B Test and Checkout A/B Test.
Access the tab for the type of test you want to create, click on Add and fill in the requested information to configure the new test.
Creating the A/B Test directly within the group is recommended when it is part of the main campaign structure, as it keeps all optimization logic organized within the same analytical context.
If you prefer, it is also possible to associate an A/B Test for Leads, Sales or Checkout that has already been created previously with the group.
- Can I duplicate an A/B Test in a tracking group?
Yes, it is possible to duplicate a Leads A/B Test, Sales or Checkout within a tracking group.
This functionality allows you to create a new version of an already configured test, reusing the entire original structure. The system generates a copy of the test, allowing you to define a new name and automatically creating a new disclosure URL.
To do this, in the Guru admin, access P.P.C.T. in the side menu and click on Groups. Then, select the desired group and access the tab corresponding to the type of test you want (Leads A/B Test, Sales A/B Test or Checkout A/B Test).
In the test list, hover over the test you want to duplicate and click on the option Duplicate.
If necessary, you can also add a new A/B test or associate an existing A/B test with the tracking group.
- Does the A/B Test within a group change the behavior of other trackings?
No. The A/B Test replaces the common tracking for the same purpose, but coexists normally with trackings from other funnel stages, without harming or interfering with the functioning of the other group trackings.
In practice, the Neural A/B Test already functions as a type of tracking, with the additional ability to automatically divide traffic between different page or checkout variations. Therefore, when you activate a Neural A/B Test (for Leads, Sales or Checkout), you should not use an equivalent standard P.P.C.T. for that same stage, as the link generated by the test itself already performs the tracking and traffic distribution.
The A/B Test can be used normally in conjunction with P.P.C.T.s with different objectives within the funnel. For example, you can use a Neural A/B Test to optimize your lead capture page and maintain a CHECKOUT P.P.C.T. tracking the payment stage, without any conflict between them.
