Concepts and Functioning of Capture Tracking
Understand what capture tracking is, how it works in practice, and its role in the lead's journey and conversion into sales.
- What is Guru's Capture Tracking and how to configure it?
The Capture Tracking is a feature that connects your capture page to Guru's data intelligence so you can analyze the volume of leads generated and the financial return (ROI) that these contacts generate over time.
This system allows capturing leads through tracked forms, storing these contacts on the platform, and automatically sending them to your email marketing (autoresponder) system. This way, you can follow the lead's journey until financial conversion, connecting capture and sales.
The main features of capture tracking are:
-
Conversion monitoring: identifies direct conversions (immediate sales after capture) and indirect conversions, when the lead buys at a later time or through another campaign;
-
Lead data centralization: in addition to sending to the autoresponder, the lead is registered on the platform, allowing you to view their origin and interaction history;
-
Flexible integration: works through a form code or an action URL, which can be used on HTML pages or in builders like Elementor, GreatPages, and similar.
How to create a Capture Tracking in Guru?
To create a capture tracking, in the Guru admin, access the side menu and click on P.P.C.T. Then, click on Captures. In the upper right corner, click on Add Tracking and enter the requested data to create the tracking.
After adding your capture tracking, if you wish to make changes, you can update, duplicate, hide, deactivate(1) and remove the P.P.C.T.(2).
(1) When deactivating a Capture P.P.C.T., the disclosure URL stops working and no longer redirects to the configured URL - this option is indicated when it is not possible to remove the P.P.C.T. and you want to prevent new captures or conversions via the link.
(2) The removal of the P.P.C.T. is only allowed if the tracking has not yet received its first click - in this case, the P.P.C.T. is permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
- Does Guru consider the first or last capture tracking?
In Capture P.P.C.T.s, Guru considers the first tracking to register the lead's origin, meaning the link responsible for the initial contact capture is maintained as an acquisition reference. This allows you to analyze which top-of-funnel channels (e.g., Facebook Ads) are effective in attracting new potential customers.
Even if the lead accesses other links later, the capture origin is not replaced. At the time of conversion (sale), the system separately records the origin of the sale, which corresponds to the link accessed when the purchase is finalized. These metrics can be viewed together in the P.P.C.T. Leads Sales Dashboard.
- What happens if the lead accesses more than one link before converting?
When a lead accesses more than one link before converting, Guru records distinct moments of the journey, separating acquisition and final conversion. This ensures more precise attribution of results at each stage of the funnel.
-
To identify the lead's origin (acquisition) - the record of the tracking link responsible for the initial contact capture is maintained, indicating which channel brought the lead to the database; and
-
To monitor the sale's origin (conversion) - the sale is attributed to the tracking link accessed at the time of purchase, indicating which channel was decisive for the conversion.
For example
A lead can be captured by a Meta Ads ad and convert days later through an email marketing link - in this case, Facebook is attributed to the capture, while email is attributed to the sale.
This way, you don't lose the information of the first contact and can analyze, in the P.P.C.T. Leads Sales dashboards, which channels perform best in lead generation and which are most efficient in conversion.
Management of Capture Trackings
Learn more about how to manage your Capture P.P.C.T.s, by activating, deactivating, duplicating trackings, and about reusing links on different pages or campaigns.
- How to use the Capture P.P.C.T. filter?
To manage and analyze specific trackings, you can filter the list of captures in the Capture P.P.C.T. report. To do this, in the Guru admin, click on the side menu, access P.P.C.T., and then select Captures. In the upper right corner, click on Filters.
The available filters search for:
-
Code: the informed identification code - you can enter only part of the code. Ex.: the first 4 digits;
-
Name: the P.P.C.T.s that have the informed name or parts of the name;
-
P.P.C.T. Groups: the sales linked to the selected P.P.C.T. group(s);
-
Products: the product that identifies the tracking;
-
destination URL: the P.P.C.T.'s destination URL;
-
Owner: the owner of the tracking;
-
Status: the P.P.C.T.s that have the status corresponding to the selected value (Active or Inactive) - if you wish to ignore this filter, select the "All" option;
-
Visibility: displays only the capture P.P.C.T.s that are visible or hidden in the list of capture P.P.C.T.s - if you wish to ignore this filter, select the "All" option.
To remove the applied filters and return to the full view, simply click the Clean Filters button.
If you wish to view hidden P.P.C.T.s, you can filter the results by visibility.
- How to export capture data for external analysis?
To export your Capture P.P.C.T. report, access the Guru admin and, in the side menu, click on P.P.C.T. Then, click on Captures.
In the upper right corner of the screen, click the XLS button. You will receive a notification in the admin with the download link - to view it, click the notification icon at the top of the screen and, in the notification list, click Download.
In a few minutes, you will receive the file in XLS format via email.
it is only possible to export one spreadsheet within a 30-minute interval. If you wish to export a report with other information, wait for this period, apply the filter desired and repeat the step-by-step for export.

- When deactivating a Capture P.P.C.T., does the link still capture leads?
No. When deactivating a Capture P.P.C.T., the disclosure URL will no longer be available, so there will be no more redirection to the payment URL informed in the button.
When the tracking status is changed to inactive:
-
the disclosure URL used in the form becomes unavailable;
-
the user is no longer directed to the configured destination page;
-
capture fails - only active trackings process data, therefore, when the P.P.C.T. is deactivated., the form submission is not registered and no lead is captured.
To change the destination URL or adjust your capture strategy without interrupting the form's operation, you can duplicate the Capture P.P.C.T., make the necessary changes in the copy, and use the new link. This way, you preserve your history by keeping the old tracking intact, and the new one starts receiving subsequent captures.
- is it possible to reactivate a deactivated P.P.C.T. link?
Yes, it is possible to reactivate an P.P.C.T. link that was previously deactivated previously. However, it is important to note that when a tracking is deactivated, it may no longer appear in the listing standard of the admin, as the view usually only displays active links.
If you don't find the link in the list, follow the step-by-step:
-
In the Guru admin, access the side menu, click on P.P.C.T. and then, Captures;
-
In the upper right corner, access the filters and adjust the status field to search for inactive P.P.C.T.s or all statuses;
-
After applying the filter, the deactivated tracking will be displayed in the listing;
-
In the desired tracking, change the selector to the active (on) position, and save the change.
As soon as the P.P.C.T. is reactivated, the disclosure URL immediately starts working again, and the system resumes recording clicks and conversions. While it remains deactivated, the link continues to be unavailable and does not process new data.
While the P.P.C.T. is deactivated, the disclosure URL becomes unavailable, and redirects stop working. When reactivating it, the link immediately starts working again and recording clicks and conversions.
- What is the difference between deactivating and deleting a tracking?
The difference between deactivating and deleting a Capture P.P.C.T. lies in the reversibility of the action and the preservation of data history (clicks).
-
When deactivating a Capture P.P.C.T.:
-
the tracking's operation is interrupted without its data being erased. In this case, the disclosure URL stops working, the form stops capturing leads, and there is no more redirection to the destination page - this option can be used at any time, including for trackings that have already received clicks or generated leads, and is indicated when you want to pause a campaign while keeping the history for analysis;
-
-
When deleting a tracking:
-
the removal is permanent - this action is only allowed if the P.P.C.T. has never received clicks, and after deletion, the record cannot be restored.
-
In addition to deactivating a tracking that has already had clicks, it is also possible to hide it so that it is not displayed in your viewing list.
- Can I keep old trackings just for history?
Yes. Capture Trackings that have already received clicks cannot be deleted precisely to preserve the integrity of historical data and reports, which is why Guru enables and recommends that you keep them only for consultation.
To organize these trackings without losing information, you can use the following options:
-
Hide a tracking: when you hide a Capture P.P.C.T., it no longer appears in the standard listing, but remains saved on the platform with all its history - if you need to view it again, simply adjust the visibility filter;
-
Deactivate a tracking: before archiving, it is recommended to deactivate the tracking - in this case, the disclosure URL stops working and the link does not accept new captures, keeping the data only for historical consultation;
-
Export the list of trackings: if you wish to save the data externally, it is possible to export the trackings in XLS format - the spreadsheet is sent by email and allows you to maintain a backup or perform analyses outside the platform.
This way, you keep your list organized without compromising the performance history of the trackings.
Configuration of Capture Trackings
Check out the main points of capture P.P.C.T. configuration, such as defining the destination URL, form, integration with external pages, and necessary adjustments to ensure the correct functioning of the capture.
- What is the "Pass form data" button for?
The Pass form data button in Capture Trackings is used to send the captured data to the destination URL - to enable it, access the P.P.C.T. list and, in the desired P.P.C.T., click on Detail.
This functionality is useful for personalizing the user experience on the destination page, allowing, for example, to display a personalized message such as "Registration confirmed" using the sent data.
When you switch this button to the Active (on) position, the system forwards the information filled in by the lead to the page where they are redirected.
- Is it possible to edit the destination URL after the first click?
No, after the capture tracking receives the first click, the destination URL can no longer be edited.
This restriction exists to preserve the integrity of statistical data. From the moment tracking begins to record accesses, some main settings are blocked for editing.
If it is necessary to change the URL to direct traffic to a new page, you must create a new tracking. For this, the recommended flow is to deactivate and duplicate the original tracking, so that a copy with the same settings is created. Then, define the new URL and generate a new link.
- Is it possible to use the same Capture P.P.C.T. on more than one page or campaign?
Yes, the same Capture P.P.C.T. can be used on different pages and campaigns.
Usage on different pages
-
To use the same P.P.C.T. on multiple capture pages, all pages must redirect to the same destination URL configured in the P.P.C.T., as this configuration is fixed.
Usage in different campaigns
-
IT is not necessary to create a new P.P.C.T. for each campaign. In this case, you can use the same P.P.C.T. link and add utm parameters TO the URL. Guru automatically identifies each combination of UTMs and creates child trackings, allowing you to analyze results by campaign, ad, or creative.
The creation of a new tracking is recommended only when the destination URL is different or the product associated with the capture needs to be another, for ROI analysis purposes.
- The P.P.C.T. is active, but does not register captures: what to check?
If your Capture P.P.C.T. appears as active but is not counting leads, it is necessary to validate three main areas: account, form configuration, and tracking link.

Capture Tracking Parameters
In this block, you will find explanations about the parameters used in capture tracking, such as UTMs and other identifiers, and how they influence the organization and analysis of captured leads.
- What parameters does Guru automatically track and how to use them in capture links?
In Capture Trackings, guru automatically identifies parameters added to the disclosure URL, using this information to segment reports and analyze campaign performance.
To do this, you must include the following UTM tags at the end of the P.P.C.T. disclosure link:
-
utm_campaign: identifies the campaign name; -
utm_medium: indicates the medium used - for example, email; -
utm_content: differentiates creatives or content variations (e.g., video01, blue_banner); -
utm_term: identifies terms or keywords.
How does automatic segmentation work?
It is not necessary to create a different P.P.C.T. for each ad variation. By using different combinations of UTMs in the same Disclosure URL, Guru automatically creates child trackings linked to the main tracking. This allows analyzing clicks, leads, and costs per creative, campaign, or variation, maintaining tracking organization.
See how to structure the capture link and check the best practices for using UTMs to ensure correct tracking functionality.
Automatically recorded metrics
In addition to URL parameters, capture tracking records performance metrics associated with user behavior, such as:
-
Clicks (captures): number of accesses to the link;
-
Leads: number of registrations made;
-
Conversion and costs: calculation of metrics such as Cost per Lead (CPL) and, when applicable, financial return linked to future sales originated from these leads.
The parameter utm_source is not considered by Guru when inserted in the URL, as the traffic source must be obligatorily defined at the time of P.P.C.T. creation within the platform.
- What happens if I change the parameters after tracking is active?
After a Capture P.P.C.T. receives its first click, some fields become unavailable for alteration. This restriction exists to preserve the integrity of historical data and ensure report consistency.
If it is necessary to change parameters or main information of a tracking that is already in use, the recommended flow is to duplicate the P.P.C.T.. Duplication creates a new version with the same settings, allowing adjustments to the desired parameters. In this case, a new disclosure URL is generated, which must be updated on the pages or ads.
Although it is not possible to edit certain fields or delete the tracking after the first click, you can deactivate the tracking at any time. By doing so, the disclosure URL stops working and no longer redirects to the destination page.
- How do parameters influence source and advertiser reports?
Parameters determine the level of detail in Capture P.P.C.T Reports. They transform an overview by channel into a granular analysis by campaign, creative, or ad variation, in addition to directly influencing cost attribution and the calculation of metrics such as CPL and CPC.
The influence occurs at three main levels:
|

In the Capture P.P.C.T., this makes it possible to view the individualized Cost per Lead, instead of just a general average per channel |
Recommended best practices
To maintain clean, organized reports with precise financial attribution, the recommendation is to use simple values, avoid spaces and special characters, and standardize nomenclature.
When well-structured, dynamic variables keep data intelligence intact and facilitate the strategic analysis of capture campaigns.

Lead Capture and Submission
Clear your doubts about the lead capture process and the submission of this information to Guru and email marketing tools.
- What are the minimum requirements for a form to capture leads correctly?
For a form to capture leads and send data correctly to Guru, the following technical requirements must be met:
-
Active Capture P.P.C.T.: the tracking must be created, with active status and a destination URL defined for redirection after submission;
-
Correct action URL: the form must use the action URL generated by Guru (starting with
https://clkdmg.site/...) as the destination for data submission; -
Correct field identification: the name and email fields must be correctly identified - incorrect nomenclatures prevent the recognition and processing of the capture;
-
Sending name and email parameters: in forms created in external builders, the name and email values must be sent correctly in the request - without this parameter passing, Guru does not register the lead;
-
Autoresponder integration (optional): if you wish to send the lead to an email marketing tool, the integration must be active and selected within the P.P.C.T..
By fulfilling these requirements, the capture is correctly registered and the lead appears in the platform's reports.
For more information, access Capture Tracking.
- Why don't all leads appear in reports or dashboards after being configured?
After configuring the tracking, some leads may not appear immediately or may not be included in certain Guru reports and dashboards. This behavior is usually related to update criteria, filters, or tracking type.
To ensure the complete display of your reports, check:
-
Data update: dashboards use cache and can take up to 5 minutes to update - use the refresh button to display the latest data;
-
Period filter: by default, dashboards display results only from the last 28 days - adjust the filter to include the capture date;
-
Untracked leads: leads captured without an active P.P.C.T. link appear in the general summary, but may not be displayed when filtering specific campaigns;
-
User permissions: users may not have permission to view all reports or lead activities.
Use the capture P.P.C.T. filters to access specific tracking information you wish to consult.
- How to check if captured leads are going to my email marketing?
To verify if captured leads are being sent correctly to your email marketing tool (autoresponder), it is important to validate both the lead's registration in Guru and the sending to the configured integration.
To perform the verification, you must:
-
Perform a registration test: validate by simulating a real capture - to do this, access the page where the form is published, fill out the form with a test email and submit it;
-
Verify the lead's registration in Guru: before proceeding to email marketing, the lead needs to be registered on the platform - to do this, in Capture P.P.C.T., click on the tracking being tested and, in the Leadssection, check if the email used in the test appears in the list, along with the creation date;
-
Check the autoresponder configuration in the P.P.C.T.: if the lead is registered in Guru, the next step is to validate the sending to email marketing - to do this, confirm that the desired email marketing tool is selected and that the settings are correct;
-
Validate receipt in the email marketing tool: with the lead registered in Guru and the configured integration, access your email marketing platform and look for the test email in the list or tag defined in the P.P.C.T.
For the sending to work, the autoresponder integration must be previously activated and authenticated before being selected in the tracking.
- How to test lead sending after configuration?
After creating a Capture P.P.C.T., it is necessary to connect it to a form published on a page. This form can be on its own page, in a builder like Elementor, Great. Pages or similar, on a custom HTML page or in any external environment that allows configuring the action URL.
Before testing
For the test to work correctly, it is necessary to connect the P.P.C.T. to the form. To do this, you must:
-
Copy the action URL generated within the P.P.C.T.;
-
Configure this URL in the form of the page where leads will register;
-
Ensure that the fields are correctly identified as
nomeande-mail; -
Publish/save the page with these settings.
How to perform the test in practice
After the form is configured and published, you can perform a test by simulating a real capture, following these steps:
-
Access the page where the form is publicly available;
-
Fill in with a name and a test email (e.g.: test@yourdomain.com);
-
Submit the form normally.
How to validate if the lead was registered
After submitting the form:
-
Access the Guru admin, click on the side menu, access P.P.C.T. and then, Captures, then click on the tracking used in the test;
-
In the Leads section, check if the informed email appears in the list, accompanied by the creation date.
-
Check if the test email appears in the listing, with date and time of registration.
If the lead is listed, the capture was successful and the tracking is active. Otherwise, review the action URL configuration in the form or page builder used.
- What happens if the same email registers more than once?
When the same email address registers more than once in a Capture P.P.C.T., Guru does not create a new duplicate contact. Instead, the system registers a new interaction for the existing lead.
In this case, the registration is differentiated from new leads, which are contacts captured for the first time; additionally, the lead's history is updated, allowing you to view all interactions performed over time and identify new campaigns or pages that generated this re-engagement.
This behavior allows separating real growth from the re-engagement base of existing leads, maintaining data and metric consistency.
If the same email registers more than once and you have an active email marketing integration linked to the Capture P.P.C.T., the sending to the autoresponder occurs normally. In this case, the email marketing tool updates the existing contact or applies new tags, according to the configuration, without generating duplicate registrations.
